Cavities Are Catching!

That's Dr. Steven C. Steinberg's, of the American Dental Association, take on a new seminar program concerning the "modern knowledge of caries," and what it can do for dentists and patients.

Dr. Steinberg says the "A New Paradigm for the Treatment of Dental Caries” program will help dentists "treat the whole person, not just the hole."

Treating tooth decay as an infectious disease is a not new way to think about dental caries, but one whose time has come. Tooth decay is transferred from person to person and tooth to tooth by bacterial infection.
You originally are infected by the decay bugs as an infant from your primary caregiver.You can “catch” the decay causing bacteria from someone who has active tooth decay in their mouth.   And decay in one tooth in your mouth can easily spread to other teeth in your mouth by the cavity-causing germs.
