Fairborn Ohio Patient Chews Tongue

Question:

Well I was wondering what I should do about my problem I have. During sleep I am somehow biting my tongue, and like a have taste in my mouth.

Answer:
Many people express their reactions to stress and strain by exhibiting  some unusual oral behavior.  In my experience, I have seen people suck their tongues, chew their cheeks, and/or grind their teeth.  As these are outlets of nervous energy, it is not always possible to change them.  Instead, I usually make a soft, resilient shock absorbing mouth guard for the patient to wear.  This permits the habit to continue, but eliminates the possibility of self-injury.
