When viewed from the perspective of outer space the Earth is significant as an Iota or Tittle.

Within the limits of our small iota-

• ·         creeds and economic theories
• ·         every hunter and gatherer
• ·         every hero and heroine
• ·         every creator and destroyer of races
• ·         every monarch  and peasant
• ·         every young couple in love
• ·         every hopeful child
• ·         every mother and father
• ·         every inventor and explorer
• ·         every spiritual leader
• ·         every corrupt politician
• ·         every superstar
• ·         every supreme leader,
• ·         every saint and sinner in the history of our species,

 has lived here on our mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.

The earth is a very small stage in the limitless universe.

Think of the disrespect visited by the inhabitants of one corner of our  tittle on scarcely distinguishable inhabitants of some other corner of our iota.

How frequent our misunderstandings, how eager earthlings are to kill one another, how fervent our hatreds.

Our posturing’s, our imagined self-importance, the delusion that we have some privileged position in the universe, are challenged by this small point of pale light- the only home we've ever known.
