Dentistry is elective...UNTIL IT ISN'T
Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 08:35PM It has been estimated that at least half of Americans avoid dental care until toothache alerts them there is a need.
“If it doesn’t hurt, I don’t need a dentist.”
The other half of the population seeks dental care as avidly as they do all other health matters.
Many people (but not all) have felt that it is important to maintain oral health.
People enjoy chewing. And feel the need to express themselves by being able to speak clearly—speaking is really is the basic component of being sociable with people. And being socially adept is really the basic component of being able to function in a job--having a job, a responsible position, which earns enough pay to be called “A Living.”
So basically, how important are: eating, speaking, social life, and a job?
Oral health is the underlying condition that supports all of these activities.
It is really senseless to separate disease of the mouth from diseases of the rest of the body. The same circulation that supplies the jaws, also goes through the brain.
Dentistry is an elective procedure… until it isn’t elective, any longer.
And appreciation of the importance of dentistry is a stronger identifier of class in a “classless” America than is a bank balance.
We provide our patients who value Self-Care with important resources for preventing oral disease and tooth problems- so they can avoid distress.
And, for patients who come for episodic relief of disconfort or aesthetic urgencies, Dr. Russell is skilled at the emergency interventions that inevitably arise from avoiding dental appointments for too long.
We welcome all whom we can help.
